Wish I knew where he was or how he was doing, but all we can do is hope & pray he fulfills his destiny and survives on his own! He has to be a warrior because he lasted as long as he did!
Cliff - here's to you buddy!

This sort of stuff really bothers me... problem is, where is the justice?

We can about kiss the EPA goodbye now - Scott Pruitt was nominated - little do these people understand or realize the OTHER implications that come from this and what it is going to cost them! Scott Pruitt denies climate change is real. Pruitt viciously attacked the EPA and its efforts to stop air and water pollution. He's literally the mouthpiece of Big Oil, taking talking points written by energy lobbyists to publicly attack Obama's Clean Power Plan. I may not have supported or voted for Obama, but he took time to do positive things to help out in areas that need the help - aka our environment, because whether people want to admit it or not, many of our taxes go into supporting these drastic measures and the literal destroying of the environment. Pruitt's own bio proudly declares he "is a leading advocate against the EPA's activist agenda." Instead, he's been a leading advocate for Big Oil's agenda. In a New York Times expose, journalists discovered that letters Pruitt sent challenging Federal clean air regulators were actually written by energy lobbyists. In return, Big Polluters filled Pruitt's campaign coffers. This is a disaster. Scott Pruitt will undoubtedly fulfill Trump's promise to reduce the EPA to "tidbits." I am forced to agree with this finding for several reasons, none of which are positive. If it were that easy to fix this country, don't you think they would have done it already by now? This is only the beginning of the end for so many things... This is in regards to the exaggerated (false) statements made by Dr. Wielgus, and am pushing for more proof and a more clear explanation! That being said, this is what I sent [email protected] & [email protected] & [email protected]:
Hello! As an avid wolf advocate I was entrenched in the Profanity Peak Pack debacle, and STILL have some questions in regards to this article: https://news.wsu.edu/2016/08/31/wsu-issues-statement-clarifying-comments-profanity-peak-wolf-pack/ I read the article and fully understand what it states! But there had to have been some evidence that lead Dr. Wielgus to make the inaccurate statements he made! I emailed Robert Strenge, WSU News, 509-335-3583, [email protected] but got absolutely NO help from him. Secondly, this is a no brainer - wolves can travel MANY miles during a hunt or to relocate the pack! That area the cattle were in is part of their territory and sooner or later the cattle were bound to wind up in the wrong place at the wrong time! I am also aware that this rancher has had a working agreement for 73 years in regards to his grazing cattle. However, there were other methods that could have and should have been exercised - I am aware of only a couple that were attempted! This particular pack was small, and could have been relocated, costing TAX PAYERS less money than was spent as it is! Also, the BLM, the McIrvins, the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife all had the role on or with the WAG group which never gave the wolves a chance - I've seen and read the criteria for lethal removal of wolves as well as numerous other management program principles and protocols, and to me, they never gave the wolves a chance at all as it is! I would just like to know why you neglected to mention any of that when you forced Dr. Wielgus to publicly rescind his remarks? There is ALWAYS more to the story than the public is told! There are currently 2 documented wolves remaining on Isle Royale. It is a male and a female, but the female is the daughter of the male, and they share a same mother. They were spotted several times across the island over summer 2016.
The park is currently considering 2 different options regarding the decline of wolves on Isle Royale 1) Let nature take its course. If the wolves die off, the park would not intervene. There always exists a possibility that ice bridges will form across Lake Superior, as they have done in the past, and wolves from Minnesota could repopulate 2) Do a one time wolf reintroduction to start a new healthy pack and monitor. 3) Do continuous wolf reintroduction interventions into the future whenever there is danger of the wolf population disappearing. The park did numerous outreach sessions to the local and park communities to receive their input regarding these different options. Now the park is examining all of this input and these different options in order to make the best decision for the future. The estimated time for a final decision is next summer. Hope that gives you the foundation of information you're looking for. Sincerely, Chris Amidon |
